Last weekend I spoke at the Southern AZ Natural Hair & Wellness Expo, a first-time event held in Tucson, AZ that brought professionals in the hair, beauty, fashion and wellness industries together in one place. Considering many of these professionals are also trying to attract more customers and clients to build their business, bringing the business aspect to this event was a great opportunity to introduce myself and share my journey building my blog, business and brand.
I started blogging back in 2010 after starting my event planning business primarily as a way to increase exposure for my services (AKA CONTENT MARKETING). In this case, the business was first and the blog was the supporting partner.
However, when I started The Confetti Collective I didn’t have a product or service for sale; the blog was my way of housing my knowledge of natural hair care in one place to send people to. I blogged exclusively for almost 3 months before I decided to create an official business with products for sale.
Once I decided to branch out (again) and start my personal brand, I knew the products that I wanted to sell, but I started out blogging and posting videos.
Using 3-time journey to entrepreneurship, you see that there’s no one way to follow to arrive at building your blog, business and brand. I do believe that all three pieces of this pie are necessary if you want to be successful on any level.
Don’t fret, I have several awesome blog posts coming with tips, hacks and everything you need to know to build your pie. I’m also going to be hosting a live seminar in Sierra Vista, AZ about blogging. If you’re nearby stay tuned for the details.
I can attest from personal experience that this IS possible.
