Within the past few days Katch, a widely used desktop application that captured Periscope streams and saved them for posterity on their platform, announced that they would be shutting down. Naturally, this announcement was broadcast via Periscope broadcast…
While watching the broadcast I picked up on a few things that the co-founders mentioned (like “punching above their weight class”) as they told the backstory for the unexpected news. In a nutshell, they were not able to secure enough funding to continue operations, even though they had over 1 million users.
