If you’re a business owner and this Jack Welch quote doesn’t shake you up, you might have a problem.
Your job is as the Head Person in Charge is to keep and eye on what’s going on in your business to make sure things are functioning and supporting your efforts in the way they’re supposed to – but you also have to be aware of your external environment, because major shifts in your industry can a tremendous impact on the way you do business.
In the military we (once a soldier always a soldier…) say ‘Stay Alert, Stay Alive” and basically that means you have to know what’s going on around you or you put your safety or life at risk.
I take my business as seriously as a soldier does…and so should you. Your target audience may change, new opportunities are presented or you may need to update your business plan.
