Three Types Of People That Follow You Online – Make the Connection with Your Content

When it comes to your content marketing, what you don’t know can frustrate you and hurt your business. It takes a lot of time and resources to plan content that attracts, engages and converts your audience, but it’s important to recognize that every person following you isn’t there for the same reason. As marketers we have to be aware that everybody isn’t after the result that we’re trying to provide.

In fact, there are three types of people that are in your online audience, and knowing how to differentiate will help you create a better content experience. You can stop spinning your wheels, focus on the right folks and make the connection using your content.

I use a simple category process to identify the people in my audience:

  • Streakers – these folks aren’t aware that they have a problem, they show up for the highlights, not likely to buy
  • Strollers – these folks are aware they have a problem, trying to decide where to spend their money
  • Studiers – these folks are ready to buy, they’re looking for confirmation that you’re the right person
