Community Foundation for the CSRA

From Message Clarity to Campaign Momentum

How Renegade Creative Media Group helped 10 nonprofit organizations turn year-end giving overwhelm into clearer campaign direction and practical next steps.

Outcome

Ten nonprofit teams turned year-end giving overwhelm into campaign direction and practical next steps

Timeline

Four-hour lab

Scope

  • Year-end giving lab
  • Custom Messaging Snapshot for each organization
  • AI-assisted campaign planning workflows
  • Human review and governance guardrails
  • Capacity Building Cohort alumni engagement
01

The challenge

Year-end giving season puts heavy pressure on nonprofit teams: money to raise, stories to tell, donors to engage, and content to create — often with a small team still doing the day-to-day mission work.

The Community Foundation for the CSRA wanted a useful alumni engagement for its Capacity Building Cohort, not another generic marketing training. The lab had to produce real progress during the session itself.

02

The approach

We started with clarity. Before the session, each organization received a customized Messaging Snapshot based on publicly available information, so they could see their messaging from the outside in and identify what was clear, accurate, missing, or internally obvious but donor-confusing.

Once participants had clearer campaign direction, we introduced AI as a support tool. Guided workflows helped them organize thinking, identify gaps, develop materials, and begin turning strategy into usable content — with human review for facts, tone, claims, privacy, calls to action, and organizational alignment.

The goal was not to create content faster. It was to build a more manageable way to plan, create, review, and move a year-end campaign forward, starting with the message first and using AI second.

Results

  • 01Ten nonprofit organizations attended, several with multiple team members, and left with clearer campaign direction and practical next steps they could act on immediately
  • 02Participant language shifted from overwhelm and sighs to having more direction and seeing gaps they had not recognized before
  • 03Attendees who almost did not attend because they felt ‘too old for this stuff’ left excited and preparing to teach what they learned back to their colleagues
I learned a new AI tool, gaps in my fundraising approach, and how to fix them. This is golden!
